Visit to Sheffield Park

On  Friday 16 October 11 of us went to see the beautiful autumn colours at Sheffield Park. We were not disappointed. The weather was good although a bit more blue sky would have been welcome.

This park is also well worth visiting  earlier in the year for the rhododendrons with their beautiful spring colours.

Some of the autumnal photos we took can be seen here

10th Anniversary, 2005

The Club turned 10 in January 2005, and in these photos there are many old friends. We also received a grant from the lottery to buy our first laptop and projector, a project successfully run by David Barrett and David Huntingford.

The then President of the Royal Photographic Society, Roger Reynolds, presented the certificate to our Chairman Phil Peddy. Rosemary Wilman and Carole Speight  were invited as guests.

It was Phil’s birthday, which explains why David Huntingford is presenting him with a cake.

Night Photography in Grayshott

bsh

Twelve members met at the Fox and Pelican on Monday evening 9 December 2019. There was an almost full moon, and although it was cold it was a beautiful clear night. The lights in Grayshott were at their best, and we all wandered round taking photographs of them. Afterwards we met in the pub for a drink and a chat. An enjoyable evening, and some of our efforts can be found HERE

Photo Walk at Winkworth Arboretum

Eight members met for coffee at Winkworth Arboretum’s tiny cafe on Wednesday 30 October 2019. It was half term (sorry guys, I miscalculated!) and very busy, but the weather was gorgeous and the colours were good, with some flaming maples. I think the colour will still be good for a couple of weeks if we don’t have a gale and lose all the leaves. So if you are thinking of going next week should be good (not half term!)

It was an enjoyable day. Kathleen

BBQ 13/07/2019

Once again we held the summer party in the beautiful garden of John and Carole Wilson. Thank you both for hosting it again. The cooks were excellent, Yvonne’s organisation as good as ever, and 26 members enjoyed a pleasant summer afternoon eating and chatting.

Butterfly Outing 24 May 2019

10 members went to Oaken Wood near Chiddingfold on a guided butterfly walk.  Our knowledgeable guide Phil Darley told us what butterflies we could expect to see, and also warned us to be vigilant about ticks which are known to carry Limes Disease in the area.

As is was warm and sunny the butterflies were very skittish, so photographing them was a real challenge.

Here are some of our efforts.

Club dinner 2019

The annual club dinner was held at The Royal Exchange on Thursday evening 14 March. 32 members attended, and all agreed that the food and service were excellent.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a camera, so I apologise  for the poor quality of the pictures – obviously I need more practice with a telephone, or a better memory!
