PDI COMPETITION NO 5 18 MAY 2020

Message from our Judge  Paul Graber LRPS –

I’ve now completed the exercise, and attach my mark sheets. I’ve added comments for Entry and Intermediate, but not Advanced (with one exception, where I’m justifying a top mark even though there’s a minor fault). It’s inevitable that these pithy comments come across as more critical than I’d be in person and with more space/time than I have here. If anyone would particularly like some more detailed feedback, I’m happy for you to share my email address. (If you would like to contact Paul please ask David Bird for his email address)

I don’t know if you always have lots of birds, or whether people had looked me up and checked on my interests, but there were plenty, some of them absolute crackers!

Thank you for the opportunity to judge a good standard competition – I enjoyed it.

Regards
Paul

Congratulations to all entrants on such a good show of images, and especially to those who received top marks.

PDI COMPETITION NO 4 20 APRIL 2020

Message from our judge Steve Kingswell –

It was a pleasure to judge your images. I have commented on each image, please forgive me but the comments are more to the point than a usual narrative in a live club scenario where I would be able to give more clarity and colour to my comments.

I feel I have given reasons for my marks but have been a little less encouraging than I normally would be given the time to explain my thoughts constructively. I hope to judge live with you all on another occasion.

Thank you very much for spending time to judge our competition Steve, and we hope to see you at our club in more settled times.

There are 11 Entry class images, 7 Intermediate class images  and
32 Advanced class images. I have put every one of them on Flickr in their 3 groups. I have only put marks on Flickr for those scoring 9 and above, but all the results can be found on the PDFs below, along with a brief comment from Steve.

Congratulations to all entrants on such a good show of images, and especially to those who received top marks.

Creative Geometric Design

Our next competition on 6 January is a set subject PDI competition. What is Creative Geometric Design I hear you ask? Well it should have a geometric shape or two in it such as –

Think architecture – Roofs, staircases, skyscrapers, chimneys………
Think Nature – spider webs, flower or seed heads. Ammonites, peacocks, snail shells……….
Think Manmade objects – coiled ropes, rows of cutlery, clothing, tiles, rows of chairs, shop displays..…..
Think food – pineapples,  sliced fruit, cup cakes……..
